The Primordium series investigates relation to the past, through selfrepresentation and the distant gaze looking on, between old and new Venus.
Here, Daan tries to understand the connection between representing womanhood and representing wetness in art history, while being fully aware of his own inadequate male gaze as the outsider. Brewing since Botticelli presented the birth of Venus and Da Vinci presented Mona Lisa's smile, the womanfigure has been presented as an ideal figure, with Venus being the keyfigure and epitome of the superwoman - Now in a digital age, women are able to present themselves through social media, creating their own personified Venus, rightfully so.

Waves hit you harder
The Reticent series acts as an examination of uncertainty. The uncertain paths of a young individual who does not possess the knowledge nor the capability of feeling enough to carve his own way into the future.
Through growing up in a digital world during his youth, the desire to feel, the desire to physically experience becomes a wish. After a long amount of absense from the physical world has been established, personal growth becomes hindered. The individual becomes static, resistant to time, and does not continue to push forward into his own character. Sooner than later, these hounds of neglect come back to bite him. He loses himself, his future, his desires. Until everything crashes and his world shatters. After this series, a world of re-building is his own. Youth as he knew it will forever have ended.
